What's red and juicy and succulent, electric, and pulls long trains through the Swiss Alps?

...from a photographer's notebook

As a railroad enthusiast, even as one with a special fondness for the trains and territory of the Rhaetian Railway in Switzerland’s Canton Graubünden, I doubt my stock of adjectives for describing locomotives would ever have included words like succulent or mouth-watering…

That is, until an October afternoon in 2010 in Chur...

There, in the Hauptbahnhof of Graubünden’s capital, I saw for the first time this Ge 4/4 Series III locomotive wearing a Werbelok (Advertising Locomotive) livery for Co-Op markets. Click here to see more of her.

Hmmm…Lecker! (Yummy!)

She’ll look even more “appetizing” when she backs up and couples on to her consist of bright red Rhätische Bahn carriages for her trip to St. Moritz.

My photograph "Lecker-Lok - A Yummy Locomotive" has been selected for display in the June All Media Show at the Art League Gallery in Old Town Alexandria. The Gallery is in the Torpedo Factory Arts Center on the waterfront at the intersection of King and North Union Streets. If you're viewing this locally, the Artists Reception is on Thursday evening, June 13 from 6:30 to 9 PM, and I hope you can join us for art, munchies, including (smaller!) tomatoes, and appetizing libations to wash them down. For additional information, phone the Art League Gallery at 703-683-1780.

"Lecker-Lok - A Yummy Locomotive" is on display in a vivid print on metallic paper. It can be purchased in prints of various sizes and as a custom printed Photo Note Card.

And, if you would like to see more of the electric (and steam!) trains of the Rhätische Bahn and the mouth-watering Alpine scenery they traverse in my beloved Canton Graubünden, please follow this link to my RhB photos on Foto-Community. While there, you may also view RhB (and other Swiss) images shot in 2010 as part of my "Last Hurrah with the Kodachrome" in the Kodachrome folder.

Hmmm, why is my mouth just now watering for a heaping plate of Bündnerfleisch, Alpine cheeses...and tomatoes?
